I am a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Oslo where I work on a variety of problems linked by the themes of geometry and mechanics in living matter. I am based in the group of Prof. Andreas Carlson.

Some examples of problems I have worked on include:

  • Active liquid crystals on deformable surfaces as a model of epithelial morphogenesis,
  • Odd elasticity in chiral membranes and its role in left-right symmetry breaking,
  • The role of ATP in controlling actomyosin structure.
More recently I have begun working on problems in active wetting as a model of autophagy, the mechanism by which cells recycle and clear waste.
